ACB traps two for taking bribe

ACB sleuths trapped a junior engineer and a water supervisor of Yelburga town panchayat office when they were receiving bribe from a contractor to do an official favour on Friday.

The complainant, who is  a Class-I contractor, had bagged a tender to lay pipes to supply drinking water to SC/ST colony in Yelburga town.

He completed the work and submitted bills for reimbursement of Rs 1.5 lakh.

Omkar Murthy V Badiger, the junior engineer, town panchayat office, Yelburga, Koppal district, demanded Rs 15,000 as bribe for sanctioning funds. The contractor lodged a complaint with the ACB for demanding the bribe.

JE caught red-handed
The sleuths trapped Mahantesh Ningappa Indiyar, the water supervisor, when he was receiving Rs 15,000 from the contractor on behalf of Badiger.

The duo have been booked under Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
