Bengaluru: Social activist T J Abraham on Thursday filed a police complaint, accusing Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar of being responsible for the stampede at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium that killed 11 people and injured dozens on June 4 during RCB‘s IPL victory celebrations.
Apart from the CM and the DCM, Abraham named Chief Secretary Shalini Rajneesh; G Sathyavathi, secretary (DAPR); Shubendu Ghosh, CEO (Karnataka State Cricket Association); Menon Vijayan Rajesh, senior director, Royal Challengers Bengaluru; Thimmaiah Venkata Varadhana, managing director, DNA Entertainment Networks; B Dayananda, then commissioner of police; Vikas Kumar Vikas, then Additional Commissioner of Police (West); Shekar H T, then DCP (Central); C Balakrishna, then ACP;
A K Girish, then police inspector, Cubbon Park station; Karibasangouda;
DCP (Vidhana Soudha security); Home Minister G Parameshwara and Additional Chief Secretary (Home Deparment) Tushar Girinath.
Abraham also charged that Shivakumar, given his commercial interests, acted in a way that led to the stampede.
He further alleged that the deputy chief minister was in talks to acquire the cricketing franchise in part or in full.
Abraham also alleged that Shivakumar decided on the celebration for “media attention, personal publicity, and to create a public impression”, he said in the complaint.
He also accused the chief secretary of “misusing and misappropriating government funds to organise the function”.
