Bengaluru: The Bruhat Bangalore Hoteliers' Association on Monday urged the Karnataka government to allow hotels, bars and restaurants to operate until 2 am on December 31 and January 1.
The extended timings, the association believes, will help the government raise revenue from a variety of taxes.
Association president PC Rao said the city is expected to generate revenue of about Rs 1,000 crore on New Year's Eve alone.
"Every day, the government earns an excise duty of Rs 120 crore just in Bengaluru. We expect that the earnings will go up by another Rs 100 crore," he said.
Currently, eateries can operate until 1 am.
