Deputy Chief Minister G Parameshwara has written to Director General and Inspector General of Police Neelamani Raju to prioritise the right of way for ambulances and emergency vehicles over VIP movement.

In a note addressed to Neelamani, Parameshwara, who also holds the Home portfolio, said ‘VIP protocol’ could be set aside to ensure there is no hindrance to movement of ambulances. He said in the name of protocol, police usually block traffic to facilitate the movement of VIP convoy.

Last month, an ambulance was held up for around 15 minutes on Queen’s Road in Bengaluru as police blocked traffic to facilitate the movement of Parameshwara’s convoy.
