In the celebration of the “International Coffee Week”, Le Meridien, Gurgaon hosted a memorable éclair and coffee tasting and making workshop titled “Around the world in seven days”. Many coffee and food buffs attended the event, and thoroughly savoured the experience.
The evening started with the famous pastry Chef Johnny Iuzzini’s - Éclair Diaries video as a part of the signature éclair programme. This journey began last year as Johnny Iuzzini, travelled across the world introducing his ‘Éclair Diaries’.
Through his local visit in India’s capital city, he announced an exciting local Indian flavour called the Darjeeling Express. The hotel’s Executive Pastry Chef, Anil Kumar recreated this local Indian flavour through his éclair making workshop for all present at the Longitude Bar of the hotel.
“Nothing gives me more joy than creating these lovely éclair live for my guests. I am so pleased that everyone enjoyed the evening and to my pleasant surprise piped their éclair perfectly!” he told Metrolife.
After the éclair making workshop, the bar was set open for people to try the various varieties of éclairs such as Chocolate, Coconut and Tonka, Old Monk, Masala Chai, Lavendar and Cheese etc. The types of éclairs that had been provided were innovative and delicious.
Later, a captivating treat was in store for the attendees. A latte art workshop was also carried out, where the people were shown how to create different kinds of Latte Art
by pouring skimmed milk over the coffee and later decorating and outlining the designs
with liquid chocolate or raspberry flavours.
The audience was also shown how to make different kinds of coffee cocktails. A cocktail named Alive was declared to have been formally introduced into the hotel’s bar from then on. To make the cocktail, the bartender poured ice, then coffee and whiskey into his shaker and after having shaken it, poured other ingredients such as sugar syrup, Pepsi and more ice to complete the cocktail. It was a ‘yummy’ evening, the tasty and aromatic experience swore to haunt the taste buds for long. “It was an informative evening too; I got to learn how to make stuff like different types of éclairs and coffee cocktails and latte art. I enjoyed it,” Preeti told Metrolife.
The best part of the evening was the Darjeeling Express Éclair, which added an exotic touch of our own culture and taste to a world food item. The éclair had even been garnished by Indian ingredients like saunf and coconut slices.
At the close, the whole event was meant to impart know-how on how to make mouthwatering coffees and éclairs, and thus, to cherish delectable tastes that would stay forever.
