Bengaluru: Archbishop of Bengaluru, Most Rev Peter Machado, on behalf of the Archdiocese of Bangalore, expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Pope Francis.

In a statement, the Archbishop said Pope Francis was a voice for the voiceless. “One of the most striking hallmarks of Pope Francis’ pontificate was his tireless advocacy for migrants, refugees, and the displaced,” he said.

Describing Pope Francis, the Archbishop opined that he was “a man of deep prayer and simplicity”. He added, “Pope Francis lived as he preached — grounded in prayer and guided by the Spirit.”
