Speaking at a function organised on Tuesday to inaugurate the BMTC’s Bande Maramma bus stand at Nagarabhavi 9th block, Ashok said that construction of ten new bus stands in different parts of Bangalore were nearing completion.

“An additional ten bus stands will be constructed in Jayanagar, Indiranagar and Padmanabhanagar under Public-Private Partnership model,” he said. The PPP concept has been approved in a recent board meeting, Ashok added.

The minister also said that the industry department has agreed to provide ten acres of land belonging to the Government Soap Factory on Dr Rajkumar Road at Yeshwanthpur to KSRTC, to carry out some of its operations.

This was necessary for the KSRTC, since its bus terminal at Majestic had to be partially shifted due to the ongoing Namma Metro rail work. The minister also said that a sum of Rs 52 lakh would be released shortly to provide concrete flooring for the Bande Maramma bus stand.

BMTC Managing Director Syed Zameer Pasha informed that the Nagarabhavi bus stand was constructed at a cost of Rs 35 lakh. “It houses a traffic control room, bus pass distribution counter, drinking water taps and toilet facilities besides a hotel.” Buses from the bus stand will be run to Kempegowda Bus Terminal, K R Market, Shivajinagar, Yeshwanthpur and Jayanagar 9th block routes. Ashok also flagged off two new buses.
