Singh addressed the gathering that included deputy commissioners of police, assistant commissioners of police and inspectors in both the law and order and traffic wings.

"I was part of a meeting with all my senior officers, but I hadn’t interacted with officers in the commissionerate. I called them today as there was no bandobast arrangement and fewer law and order issues," Singh told reporters.

He said that he had directed his officers to concentrate on basic policing and crack down on rowdies, matka, betting and gambling activities. He asked his officers to adopt a people-friendly approach and attend to all complaints.

"The focus is on improving crime detection and conviction rate," Singh said and directed police officers to resist from mediating in real estate and “settlement” businesses.
