Bengaluru boy battles cancer, scores 92% in ICSE class 10 examsChirantan was diagnosed with high grade osteosarcoma when he was in class 9.

Bengaluru: Chirantan Honnapura, a student of Aryan Presidency School Nagarbhavi in Bengaluru, defeated cancer and secured 92% in ICSE class 10. Chirantan fought against osteosarcoma (a type of bone cancer) for over a year.

Chirantan was diagnosed with high grade osteosarcoma when he was in class 9. He missed the school for the rest of the academic year for treatment. Cancerous bone in his right forearm was surgically removed and with the help of a substitute writer he managed to clear class 9 with 82 per cent. 

“Soon after class 9, classes for 10 started. I was unable to attend the classes for a few months due to chemotherapy. I overcame the challenge that life suddenly threw at me. I want to study law and then attempt the UPSC exams. I aspire to become an IPS officer,” said Chirantan. 

Edu minister’s son shines

School Education and Literacy Minister Madhu Bangarappa’s son Surya Madhu Bangarappa, a student of Bishop Cotton Boys’ School, Bengaluru, has topped the Science stream with a phenomenal 98 per cent in the ISC-Class 12 examinations, the results of which were announced on Wednesday.

Sharing Surya’s success, the minister thanked the teachers and also appreciated the dedication and hard work of his son.
