Tumakuru: Union Minister of State for Railways V Somanna said on Sunday that the tender process is under way for the proposed upgrade of Bengaluru-Tumakuru rail line to quadruple track.

Speaking at an event to mark extension of cornea scheme, jointly organised Ramakrishna Sevashrama of Pavagada, Infosys Foundation, MS Trust and S R Chandrasekhar Institute of Speech and Hearing Trust, here, Somanna said, “The Centre has given high priority to completing the ongoing railway projects, along with the new ones, in the state. The tender process is underway for the upgrade of Tumakuru-Bengaluru stretch to four tracks. The project will be taken up at a cost of Rs 3,500 crore,” he said.
