The accused, Swamy, 32, an RTO agent, has been detained by the police.

The child, identified as Mohemmed Umar Farukh, had come to Gollarahatti on Magadi Main Road along with his parents. The family hails from Kunigal in Tumakuru district. Mohemmed’s father, Anwar Pasha, a canter driver, was visiting relatives, who were tenants in a house owned by Swamy.

According to police reports, around 8.45 am, Swamy had parked his car in a parking lot and was preparing to leave for work. He noticed the toddler sitting with his mother, who was occupied with daily chores. After waiting briefly, the toddler crawled toward the front right wheel of the car. Unaware of the child’s presence, Swamy moved the vehicle, fatally injuring the boy on the spot.
