Bengaluru: The Ramamurthy Nagar police have arrested a 30-year-old Bagalkot man for sexually assaulting and murdering a woman from Bangladesh.

The suspect has been identified as Mudukappa, a water tanker driver. 

The 28-year-old victim, who was living in Bengaluru without documents, was found murdered in the Kalkere lakebed in Ramamurthy Nagar in January. 

Investigators had said that she had entered India illegally and did not carry a passport. 

She worked as a house help at an apartment in Kalkere and lived with her husband in Ramakrishna Layout, Kothanur. She had gone missing, a day before her body was found. She had told her husband that she was heading to work. 

According to the police, Mudukappa used to supply water to the apartment complex where the woman worked and had spoken to her twice.
