Bengaluru: The Bengaluru police arrested three people for a theft in Banashankari, recovering stolen cash, gold, and silver worth an estimated Rs 25 lakh.
The arrested are Shivaprasad, 26, Likhith V, 23, and Jaideep Jangli, 25. Officers are currently searching for the fourth accused, Raghu Raghuvanahalli.
The incident came to light on May 23 when a resident filed a complaint at the Chennammanakere Achukattu police station. The complainant stated that he, along with his wife, had travelled to Chikkamagaluru on May 21.
Upon their return, late on May 22, they discovered Rs 24 lakh in cash, 175 grams of gold ornaments, and 1 kg of 500 grams of silver coins had been stolen from their cupboard.
Acting swiftly, the local police began the investigation. Through various leads and technical analysis, two suspects were apprehended on the Outer Ring Road on May 28.
During questioning, they confessed to the crime and implicated two accomplices, the police stated.
The arrested pair were produced before a magistrate on May 29 and remanded to police custody for seven days.
Based on their confession, the police, on June 2, successfully recovered the entire gold and silver and Rs 4 lakh in cash, along with two rods and a two-wheeler reportedly used in the crime.
Further investigation led to the identification of one of the absconding accomplices, who was already at the Parappana Agrahara Central Prison in connection with a case at the Jayanagar police station. An additional Rs 5 lakh in cash was recovered from him.
