Bengaluru: In a sudden development, BBMP Chief Commissioner Tushar Girinath shunted out Basavaraj Kabade, who was holding the post of chief engineer at the Bengaluru Solid Waste Management Ltd (BSWML).

Kabade has been posted as the chief engineer of Dasarahalli Zone, which is the BBMP's smallest zone.

In turn, Girinath has posted M Lokesh, who will continue to head the BBMP's projects (central) wing. KV Ravi has been posted as chief engineer of the BBMP's Mahadevapura Zone.

Girinath said the transfer was "routine" and "long-drawn". Kabade has been holding the post of chief engineer ever since the BSWML was formed in 2021-22.

What can be noted is that Kabade had recently filed a police complaint against some contractors for participating in the tenders using the same IP address.

Following the complaint, the Central Crime Branch (CCB) had raided the offices of the contractors. Some, however, say the transfer "is not be linked to the police complaint" as it was filed following the instructions of his superiors.
