He asked the officials to prioritise fixing the potholes on major arterial and sub-arterial roads.

“Engineers within each zone are to conduct site inspections, identify potholes, and carry out repairs using appropriate materials such as hot mix, cold mix, or eco-fix solutions,” he said.

The BBMP in a statement said that the civic body along with the Bengaluru Traffic Police had identified 4,500 potholes across major roads and ward-level roads in the city. Of these, 3,621 potholes fall under the limits of the BBMP, while the remaining 879 are outside its purview and Rao instructed the officials to ensure all the potholes under the BBMP jurisdiction are filled at the earliest.

“The potholes identified by the Traffic Police have been mapped using GIS. After the repairs, photographic documentation of each completed work will be attached, as informed by the Chief Engineer of the Projects Department,” the statement by BBMP said.

That apart, he also asked the officials to pull up the contractors and hold them accountable in case the roads under Defect Liability Period (DLP) develop potholes.

Officials have also been asked to check the various works taken up by other agencies such as the Bangalore Water Supply a d Sewerage Board (BWSSB), Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited (KPTCL) and Bescom and coordinate with the agencies to ensure that they restore the roads that they have dug up.
