Rao, who inspected a 2.5-km stretch in the East Zone, observed several loose, illegal cables hanging around and obstructing pedestrian movement. He ordered their immediate removal.

"On TenderSURE roads, ducts have been provided to lay OFCs, and only those should be used. Despite this, some service providers have laid cables along roadsides, footpaths, electric poles, and trees, causing inconvenience to the public,” he noted.

Apart from addressing the issue of illegal OFCs, Rao pointed out that many roads near the Cantonment Railway Station lacked footpaths and directed officials to identify stretches where new footpaths are required.

He also flagged the removal of illegal advertisement boards, cleaning of areas around transformers, and desilting of stormwater drains as other pressing issues in the locality.

Visit to Indira Canteen

BBMP boss M Maheshwar Rao visited the Indira Canteen on Miller’s Road to check the quality of the breakfast served.

In a release, the BBMP said the chief commissioner found the food satisfactory, but instructed staff to maintain proper hygiene and quality standards.
