Bengaluru: BBMP Chief Commissioner Tushar Girinath on Saturday instructed the zonal joint commissioner to submit a proposal to set up two second-phase solid waste transfer and automated waste segregation units at the Jakkarayana Kere playground in the heart of the city.
During an inspection on Friday, the BBMP chief noted that officials would need to speak to the police to clear nearly 6,000 impounded vehicles at the playground and submit a proposal to set up these waste transfer stations for the waste generated at Gandhinagar and Malleswaram Assembly constituencies, besides creating a garden there.
Dust menace
Residents complained that dust depositing on large number of vehicles in the playground raised cleanliness concerns in the locality.
Girinath also noted that the BBMP is conducting a survey of street vendors to identify vending zones and is clearing footpath encroachments in Malleswaram.
He also instructed officials to conduct a survey of under-construction homes under the “Onti Mane” scheme and make arrangements to release pending grants for homes whose construction works have stopped under the scheme.
The BBMP chief also instructed officials to clear a commercial establishment built on the stormwater drain near the KR Market complex’s main entrance, because of problems caused to public movement.
The BBMP chief received 67 complaints from the public in the West Zone and instructed the officials concerned to resolve the issues at the earliest.
Some of the grievances included clearing unauthorised buildings and encroached footpaths, e-khata issues, welfare programmes, roadside garbage transfer, Cauvery Junction magic box and the widening of Sankey Road.
