Bengaluru: Karnataka Lokayukta sleuths on Tuesday caught a BBMP engineer red-handed while accepting Rs 10 lakh from a civic contractor.
HV Yarapa Reddy, Executive Engineer, CV Raman Nagar, had allegedly demanded Rs 10 lakh from a BBMP contractor, Hemanth GM, for forwarding his bill.
The contractor approached the Lokayukta police and filed a complaint.
The Lokayukta officers claimed they set a trap and apprehended Reddy as he was accepting the cash from Hemanth. The police have seized the money and are continuing the investigation.
The Lokayukta police have booked Reddy under Section 7(a) of the Prevention of Corruption (PC) Act.
