Bengaluru: The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has extended the deadline for applications to various welfare programmes from February 4 to February 25.
These schemes are aimed at persons with disabilities, individuals belonging to the third gender and gender minorities, as well as those from Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) communities.
Special Commissioner (Welfare) Suralkar Vikas Kishore announced on Monday that the extension is intended to give more time for eligible applicants to complete their submissions.
What is covered in the schemes?
The welfare schemes cover a wide range of support, including reimbursement of school fees, higher education, and study abroad expenses, financial aid for small and micro enterprises, and free laptops for undergraduate students.
In the healthcare sector, the schemes offer assistance for chronic illness treatment, senior citizens’ health check-ups, organ replacement for persons with disabilities, and physiotherapy support.
Additionally, financial aid is available for purchasing musical instruments and sports equipment, as well as subsidies for persons with disabilities to buy autos and cars.
Women pourakarmikas and garment factory workers can also avail benefits such as electric two-wheelers. The programme further includes financial assistance for special schools.
