Bengaluru: A recently installed Kempegowda statue in Doddakallasandra on Kanakapura Main Road has sparked fresh scrutiny of the BBMP's cleanliness efforts.

A video shared by actor Aniruddha Jatkar shows a sharp contrast: while the front of the statue is spotless, the area behind is strewn with garbage, boulders, rubber pipes, and a littered, neglected park.

"I saw the dump on the way to a shoot. I assumed it would not be bad since the front looked clean, but I was shocked," Jatkar told DH.

Jatkar said that he had worked with gram panchayats and the BBMP over the past five years to address civic issues. What started with garbage posts has grown into efforts to clear major dumps, repair roads, and revive lakes.

The video, posted on Sunday morning, has gained significant traction online.

"I have high hopes in the BBMP — they have never failed to act on what I post," he said. "This mission is not just mine. It works because of viewers who share the videos and the BBMP, who respond since my posts are always framed as requests, not complaints."
