As part of the intensive social media campaign ahead of the Swacch Survekshan, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has taken the first step by opening a forum called ‘Swaccha Sundara Bengaluru’ in social media.
The civic body has begun a new Twitter, Facebook and Instagram portfolios to disseminate information about various practices and activities undertaken by the BBMP in solid waste management for a better Bengaluru.
“Unlike other apps such as BBMP Sahaaya, this is only to provide information about the various activities and the efforts undertaken by the BBMP to maintain visual cleanliness in the city. This is not a grievance redressal platform,” said Randeep D, additional commissioner, admin, BBMP.
Create awareness
“We do make note of problems raised here, but it is more for the purpose of creating awareness among people to keep their surroundings clean,” said Randeep.
“The red and yellow colours used in the logo of Swaccha Sundara Bengaluru is representative of the state flag. An attempt to instil a sense of pride for the city in maintaining cleanliness,” he added.
As the Swacch Survekshan survey for the year 2019 has already begun, the civic body is taking all measures to educate people about the survey, as public awareness also amounts to a few marks in the survey.
