Bengaluru: The BBMP Officers' and Employees' Welfare Association honoured women achievers from various fields at the Ditta Mahile Awards here on Monday.

The awardees included film actors Bharathi Vishnuvardhan, Jayamala Ramachandra, Saritha, Ambika, and Geetha, producers Lakshmi Govindaraju and Poornima Ramkumar, and BBMP women officers and employees. 

Other awardees were Aarti HS from Prasar Bharati, police inspector Prasheela, Bengaluru Urban District Chess Association president Soumya M Upadhyaya, lawyer Shruti, news anchors Madhu Nagaraj, Kavyashree Raghavasurya, Pragati, former RJ 'Rapid' Rashmi, and Dr Purvi Jayaaraaj from Samrruddhi Healing Center. 

Speaking at the event, Bharathi highlighted the sacrifices women make to excel in their careers. 

Actor Vinaya Prasad called for giving the award to women municipal workers, who keep Bengaluru clean. 

Jayamala said: "Women deserve praise. We must move forward without being afraid of anything."
