With an idea to improve performance in the annual Swachh Survekshan ranking system, the BBMP on Saturday launched a series of programmes as part of the Swachh Survekshan campaign-2021.

The Palike organised a rangoli festival on Saturday under the Veerannapalya flyover in Nagawara. BBMP officials said multiple events will be held over the next two months.

“The campaign aims to create awareness of Swachh Survekshan. As part of the programme, civic workers, citizens, link workers, volunteers and BBMP officials took part in the Rangoli festival," said D Randeep, Special Commissioner (SWM), BBMP.

MLA and former minister K J George gave away certificates to the participants.

In 2021, the civic body is working hard to improve the 241 ranks it obtained last year in the Swachh Survekshan.

"Citizens' participation is crucial to achieving better ranking at the national level. More people should take part in these events," said Randeep.

While providing feedback is crucial for the city to achieve a better ranking, a mere 65,000 citizens have given their feedback so far.
