Bengaluru: The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has collected Rs 4,541 crore in property tax so far, achieving 87% of its annual target.
In a significant boost, the civic body recorded an additional Rs 700 crore in revenue compared to last year.
Mahadevapura Zone remained the highest contributor, generating Rs 1,207 crore, while Yelahanka Zone achieved 98 per cent of its Rs 437-crore target. However, revenue officials in Bommanahalli and West zones fell short of expectations.
For 2024-25, the BBMP set a property tax collection target of Rs 5,210 crore.
Officials remain optimistic about reaching Rs 5,000 crore, anticipating payments from defaulters before the financial year ends.
