The government, in its IA has submitted that the Special Leave Petition filed by the government before the Supreme Court is listed for hearing on Monday. A division bench of the High Court comprising Justices V Gopala Gowda and A S Bopanna had directed the State Government to conduct elections before March 30.
The Court, which reviewed the December 16, 2009 reservation guidelines of the government based on the population in each ward, directed to announce allocation of seats before February 20. It had further ordered that the list should be made available to the State Election Commission on February 22. The Government had approached the apex court seeking extension of time to conduct the election.

The High Court asked the Ministry of External Affairs to furnish details on the action taken following derogatory travel advisory issued by the US State Department and the remarks made by Bush Hog LLC Industries, a US-based firm at a court in Alabama in USA about the Indian criminal justice system.
Karunada Sene, in a public interest litigation, had sought direction to MEA to lodge a protest against the derogatory travel advice.
The petition, also seeking re-opening of the ANZ International Manufacturing Private Limited at Dobbespet, prayed for a direction to the RBI to confiscate the assets and funds of J P Morgan group.
Sudden closure
The Dobbespet plant was closed in February 2009. The plant was manufacturing multiutility vehicles for Bush Hogg LLC.
The company abruptly stopped purchasing the vehicles rendering hundreds of workers jobless.
It had agreed to buy 10,000 vehicles from ANZ company. The division bench headed by Justice V Gopala Gowda sought to know the action taken subsequently.
