Bengaluru: The BBMP's delay in completing stormwater drainage clearing and maintenance work has led to slow-moving traffic being regularly reported on the ORR service road, especially between Kadubeesanahalli and Marathahalli in the east.

The BBMP had requested, in mid-September, two months' time from the traffic police to complete the works, said an officer from the HAL traffic police station, under whose limits the work is going on.

"Due to various reasons we are not aware of, the work has taken much longer. The engineers have asked for time till the end of this month. Peak-hour traffic, thus, moves very slowly,” the officer said.

On Wednesday morning, the HAL airport traffic police put out a traffic advisory on their social media handles, requesting commuters to cooperate with them as the vehicle movement was “very slow”.

BBMP engineers overseeing this work were not available for comment on how long this work would go on.

Adding to this issue is underground drain work taken up by the BWSSB at Kadubeesanahalli. Ongoing metro pillar work has meant that the barricades in the middle of the road have limited road space, further choking the road that already sees heavy traffic daily.

Similar civic works are underway at the Panathur railway bridge road by the Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited (KPTCL), which is laying underground power cables.
