The scheme waives compounding interest and penalties on overdue property taxes, offering significant relief to defaulters.

From December 1, property owners with pending dues will face penalties and interest, which could inflate their outstanding amounts by three to four times.

Despite the scheme being available for an extended period, many property owners have yet to take advantage of it.

BBMP officials revealed that property tax arrears amount to approximately Rs 670 crore. To recover these dues, the civic body is empowered to take stringent action, including sealing or mortgaging defaulters’ properties. Officials urged property owners to clear their dues within the remaining days of the scheme.

For those facing challenges with online payments, the BBMP has provided an option to pay manually using a demand draft submitted to the respective zonal or joint commissioner’s office. This provision also caters to citizens who encounter harassment from revenue officers or inspectors.

The BBMP has said this is a final opportunity for defaulters to settle their dues under favourable terms before stricter recovery measures are enforced.
