The BBMP deployed boats and tractors to evacuate residents from flood-prone areas. Earthmovers and pump sets were also pressed into service to drain water from several localities. Thirty teams were mobilised to clear fallen trees caused by the downpour.

BBMP Administrator Tushar Girinath and Chief Commissioner M Maheshwar Rao visited several flood-affected areas.

After inspecting Sai Layout, one of the worst-hit areas in Mahadevapura, Girinath said the narrow railway vent near Geddalahalli was the root cause of the problem.

“Widening the railway vent near Geddalahalli is necessary, and work orders have already been issued. Instructions have been given to expedite the project’s completion,” he said.

Rao, who surveyed the rain damage at Bellandur, directed officials to clear the bund area near the confluence of the major stormwater drains K-100 and K-200 to ensure smooth water flow.

“Due to reduced width at the confluence of the K-100 and K-200 stormwater drains, water flow was obstructed, causing waterlogging in Madiwala’s Dollars Colony, Koramangala 6th Block, and Ejipura. To address this, a temporary bund near Bellandur was cleared using a JCB to restore smooth drainage of rainwater,” he explained.
