Bengaluru: The BBMP has begun sealing off parts of buildings that are unauthorised or deviate from the sanctioned plans.
This action aims to pressure builders to demolish these deviations, as they will no longer be able to continue illegal construction under the guise of seeking relief from higher authorities or the courts.
On Saturday, the civic body sealed properties in SK Garden, William’s Town, Wheeler's Road, and other areas. This action was taken after builders continued construction despite receiving demolition notices from the BBMP.
Last week, the BBMP’s Mahadevapura zone sealed several properties that violated the sanctioned building plans.
Section 15(4) of the Karnataka Town and Country Planning Act of 1961 grants the BBMP the authority to seal properties that are found to be illegal. Last November, the civic body included these provisions in the notices sent to errant builders.
