Bengaluru: The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) terminated the parking contract for Church Street on Monday, following a report in DH titled "BBMP's East Zone ‘awards’ parking fee contracts without tenders" on December 14.
The report revealed that the civic body had engaged a private agency without issuing a tender.
In an official communication, the BBMP confirmed that the temporary permission granted by the joint commissioner (East) to the agency for collecting parking fees on Church Street has been revoked. However, similar parking contracts issued by the BBMP to other operators on streets such as Museum Road, Commercial Street, Brigade Road, and Kasturba Road continue to be in operations. It is not withdrawn by BBMP as of now.
