Bengaluru: BBMP Chief Commissioner M Maheshwar Rao has directed officials to prepare a comprehensive development plan for Hebbal Junction, factoring in the ongoing metro project, the suburban rail by K-RIDE, and the BBMP’s tunnel road initiative.
On Monday, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) and the city police conducted a joint inspection of the junction to identify traffic-easing measures and pedestrian-pathway improvements.
The Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) is currently executing the first phase of the flyover, while the flyover connecting KR Puram to the city is nearly complete and ready for inauguration.
Rao observed that pedestrian movement had become difficult due to ongoing construction and instructed officials to build safe and efficient walkways.
Nagawara Junction
At Nagawara Junction, where metro construction is underway, officials were asked to implement a permanent solution to waterlogging, particularly during the monsoon.
"Unauthorised encroachment on footpaths must be cleared to allow unhindered pedestrian access,” Rao said.
Near the KR Puram metro station, he directed the construction of seamless pedestrian walkways and emphasised the need for cleanliness and beautification under the flyover.
