Bengaluru: The BBMP plans to acquire treated sewage water from the BWSSB to maintain its 1,280 parks.
BBMP Chief Commissioner Tushar Girinath announced the decision during a recent meeting at the Palike's head office.
He directed officials to submit a report on borewell conditions in BBMP-managed parks, and called for immediate water supply arrangements where borewells are in a poor condition.
The BBMP is coordinating with the BWSSB to map parks to the nearest sewage treatment plants (STPs) for efficient water distribution.
"We have asked the BBMP's horticulture department to assess demand, and we expect their report within a week. Based on that, we will map parks to STPs and supply water," BWSSB Chairman Dr Ram Prasath Manohar told DH. He estimated the demand at approximately 10 MLD.
Leaf composting units
Also, the BBMP is setting up leaf composting units in 100 parks.
Tushar Girinath said that fallen leaves should be composted on site and used within the parks.
With dry leaves accumulating across the city due to the summer, the BBMP plans to identify collection points and implement clearance measures.
Girinath instructed Bengaluru Solid Waste Management Limited (BSWML) officials to ensure citywide cleanliness.
