Bengaluru: The BBMP's solid waste management department conducted an awareness programme on health and hygiene for pourakarmikas and sanitation workers on Saturday.

Held across all mustering centres, the programme focused on two key aspects —ensuring the proper use of safety equipment and promoting waste segregation.

"Despite keeping the city clean, pourakarmikas and sanitation workers often neglect their own safety and health. To address this, they were instructed on the use of gloves, masks, and gumboots while cleaning,” the BBMP stated in a release.

As waste segregation is crucial for recycling and effective waste management, the workers also received training on proper segregation practices.
