The Bangalore Trades Association (BTA) has urged the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike to beautify MG Road by redoing the pavement on the entire stretch of the road facing the Metro station.

“The stretch adjacent to the Metro station is now beautified with the boulevard. However, the opposite side of the road is not maintained. There are wires jutting out of the pavement and the tiles have chipped off in many places. There are not even sufficient dustbins on the road. The officials concerned have to ensure that the other side of the road too is equally well-maintained,” said Bhoopalam P Srinath, president of BTA.

The Association had placed a few dustbins on New Year's eve, which have vanished, he said. The Association has suggested that the government replace the existing tiles with mosaic flooring and upgrade the entire stretch of MG Road to a cement road.
The members also requested the government to plant trees on the stretch.

Apart from this, the Association has urged the BBMP to regularise the parking space along MG Road under the pay and park system. Roadside hawkers occupying the footpath too have to be vacated, they opined.

The members alleged that the officials have failed to take their complaints in this regard seriously.
