Dressed in a bridal wear, in blue and yellow colours, the freshie queen got the appreciation of the judges and clinched the crown of the beauty queen. Arlene Margaret and Fathima Zahra were declared as first and second runners-up respectively.

The programme commenced with an outstanding Bharatanatyam performance by Yashaswini. Prof Shilpi Choudhury, who had conceptualised and choreographed the event, welcomed the gathering and cheered up the girls for the talent hunt show.
Only 26 divas were selected among the freshers to exhibit their inner talent as well as external beauty in front of the judges. Speaking about the event, Shilpi revealed, “The programme is focused on Indian tradition which is very much neglected by the youth these days. The purpose of the event is to bring back the rich heritage and boost the confidence of the students. These students were shortlisted after evaluating their talents in variety of art forms.”

The enthusiasm of the girls brought life to the event. Some were clad in Gujarati style, some in Coorgi style, one was dressed as a typical Brahmin lady, another wore a Manipuri dress. As the fashion pageant progressed, the students cheered up the participants.
A panel consisting of eight juries judged the competitors on the basis of their pose, attire and on their knowledge about current affairs. Each contestant was eager to win the crown which ultimately went to Zahra.

“I am on cloud nine after winning this competition. I was quite confident about my performance and presentation. Really, this is an appropriate platform to showcase our inner beauty along with the external appearance,” said Zahra with excitement.
