Bengaluru: A 13-year-old boy was allegedly kidnapped and murdered by unknown suspects in the southeastern part of the city, police officers said.
The deceased's body was found mangled and burnt on the outskirts of the city, off Bannerghatta Road under the Bannerghatta police station limits, multiple senior police sources have confirmed to DH.
According to the police, the deceased’s parents, residents of Arekere, had lodged a complaint on July 30 at 10.30 pm that their son had gone missing. One of the parents was a lecturer, DH has learnt.
They told the police that the boy, a Class 8 student, had left home to attend tuition on his bicycle at 5 pm. However, he didn’t return till 8 pm. The parents, when inquired, were told by the tuition teacher that the boy left at 7.30 pm.
A frantic search ensued, and the parents found the boy’s bicycle at a park in Shantiniketan Layout, Arikere, under the Hulimavu Police Station limits. They then lodged the complaint after checking with relatives and the boy's friends.
“The parents received the ransom call. We cannot reveal many details now,” a source in the department told DH.
The Hulimavu police registered the case under BNS 137 (Kidnapping). On Thursday, the boy’s body was found on the city outskirts in a grisly condition.
“The body was found under the Bannerghatta police station limits, and they will likely continue with the investigation of the case,” another top source said.
