Bengaluru: The Sadashivanagar police booked an autorickshaw driver for speeding away with a traffic policeman inside after being stopped on November 27 around 9 pm near Mehkri Circle.

Traffic police constable Radhakrishna, on beat duty, saw the autorickshaw, KA 04 A3024, driving the wrong way and hitting a two-wheeler. The FIR said Radhakrishna stopped the vehicle, got inside, and asked the driver to park.

The driver instead sped towards Hebbal with the constable still inside. The FIR said the constable’s walkie-talkie fell on the road and was damaged during the commotion.

Near Ganganagar, the driver halted and fled. Police later inspected the vehicle and found daggers inside. A case has been registered, and a probe is under way.

Auto driver abuses cop

In a separate case, on November 28, traffic police constable Madesh KM was allegedly abused by an autorickshaw driver who was speeding near the Palace Guttahalli Bbus stop. The constable allowed him to leave as he claimed there was a patient in his vehicle, KA 03 AL7031.

The FIR said the driver, despite being let go, hurled abuses at the constable and tried to attack him after being told to follow the law. A probe is underway.
