Bengaluru: The nine-year-old boy who was injured in a tree fall on Nandidurga Road last week is still in the ICU with his health making little progress.

His family claims that BBMP officials have neither visited to provide an explanation for the incident nor offered any aid yet.

Jaden Lucas sustained severe head injuries and a fracture in the brow bone above his left eye after a tree branch fell on him and his father riding a scooter on December 18. He was rushed to the paediatric ICU of a private hospital on Miller’s Road.

According to his father David, who sustained an injury to his left shoulder himself, Jaden reportedly suffered swelling in the brain, or cerebral edema, due to fluid build-up.

“He has been in the ICU for a week now. Doctors are telling me he needs to be there for at least another two weeks and will require two more surgeries. We are still not sure how this has happened or why the BBMP has not explained themselves,” he said.

David added that BBMP officials had not yet visited the family in the hospital. “An official only called to take information. We don’t know if we are eligible for any compensation from them.”

The family was asked to write a letter to the BBMP, which was submitted on December 24.

Additionally, while the police haven’t filed a case yet, they have received a written complaint from the
family.

Police noted this was called an ‘act of God’ and thus, an FIR cannot be filed until further probe.
