The police said Chandrashekar, a cab driver, murdered his 30-year-old wife, Vellaramathi, around 10 am on Tuesday before walking into the Sampigehalli police station. He has been booked for murder.

They said Chandrashekar strangled Vellaramathi with a veil after a heated argument. The couple had been married for 11 years and had two school-going children, aged 10 and six.

"Vellaramathi would spend a lot of time on the phone. Chandrashekar suspected she was having an affair. The couple fought on Monday evening and again on Tuesday morning," a police officer investigating the case told DH.

Originally from Tamil Nadu, the couple had been living in Bengaluru for the past 10 years. Vellaramathi worked as an accountant at a private company in north Bengaluru.
