Bengaluru: The Bengaluru City North Division police conducted a special drive against drug peddlers on Saturday. The operation, led by senior police officers, covered 13 police stations in the division.
A total of 180 individuals were checked during the operation, and information was collected about their movements and occupations. Three cases were registered against drug peddlers, and 2 kg 450 grams of ganja was seized in the Malleswaram, RT Nagar, and Mahalakshmi Layout police station limits.
Three persons were taken into custody in connection with the seizures: Mohammed Khasim (19), Puneeth T (25), and Sunil Naik (26).
Additionally, cases were registered against four individuals found consuming narcotics. The police also traced five offenders and two warrant absconders, registering cases against them.
In total, cases were registered against 10 individuals. Action was taken under the Karnataka Police Act against 18 individuals, and under the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA) against 10 individuals. The remaining individuals were strictly warned not to engage in unlawful activities.
