Bengaluru: Citizens of Bengaluru, led by Vatal Nagaraj, Kannada activist  and former MLA, held a bullock cart protest near the Kempegowda bus stand at Majestic on Saturday, seeking redress of issues like potholes, flooding and corruption in civic bodies.

“Bengaluru, once the pride of India, is drowning both literally and morally,” Nagaraj said during the protest, criticising Bescom, BWSSB and BDA for “failing” the city.

He pointed out that new layouts lack roads, water and basic amenities, claiming, “Everything moves only with money”.

Nagaraj also called on IT and biotech leaders like Mohandas Pai, Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, N R Narayana Murthy and Azim Premji to contribute to infrastructure restoration rather than just complain about the city’s civic woes.

He warned that if no measures were taken to improve the road infrastructure, they would call for a Bengaluru shutdown (bandh) soon.
