Bengaluru: In four separate cases, police officers from different divisions in Bengaluru arrested eight people for peddling drugs, including MDMA and hashish oil, worth nearly Rs 60 lakh.
Bengaluru Police Commissioner B Dayananda announced the arrests on Friday during the weekly press briefing.
The Konanakunte police arrested two suspects near Doddakallasandra and seized 1.122 kg of ganja, 3.44 kg of hashish oil, and a car — collectively valued at Rs 46.10 lakh.
During interrogation, the duo admitted to purchasing the drugs from an unidentified supplier in Odisha and selling them at a higher price in the city. A probe has been launched to track down the supplier, the police said.
The Central Crime Branch (CCB) arrested a man in Ram Rao Layout near the CK Achukattu police station for peddling MDMA crystals and ganja. Officers recovered 55.20 grams of MDMA crystals, 1.905 kg of ganja, and impounded a car — altogether worth Rs 10.50 lakh.
Near Nallurhalli Lake, the Whitefield police arrested two suspects and seized 12.9 kg of ganja. They also impounded a car worth Rs 1.80 lakh. The duo told the police they sourced the contraband from Odisha and Andhra Pradesh before distributing it in the city.
Similarly, the Devanahalli police arrested three people and recovered 3.2 kg of ganja, a two-wheeler, and two mobile phones, all valued at Rs 1.80 lakh.
