Bengaluru: In a surprise decision, the Bengaluru divisional railway manager has been transferred out in less than four months.
Amitesh Kumar Sinha, who took charge as the Bengaluru DRM only in January this year, has been deputed to the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology as additional secretary.
His successor, Ashutosh K Singh, took office on Wednesday.
Singh is a 1995-batch officer of the Indian Railway Service of Electrical Engineers (IRSEE). He is a BE (Electrical Engineering) graduate from IIT, Roorkee.
Prior to this, Singh was Chief Electrical Engineer at the Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited. He also worked for the Research Design and Standards Organisation (RDSO), where he was a part of the high-speed projects. He was also involved in the safety certification of various metro projects, including in Bengaluru, the South Western Railway (SWR) said.
Railway enthusiasts said that DRMs are often given short stints in Bengaluru, affecting their performance.
Sinha's predecessor, Yogesh Mohan, had a 17-month stint.
