On April 3, two women walking home to Bharathi Layout, SG Palya, were accosted by a man. One of them was groped, but let go off after she raised an alarm.

The police later tracked down the suspect, Tilak Nagar resident Santosh Daniel from Kerala, after a video of the incident was shared widely on X (formerly Twitter).

The video was initially uploaded by Lokesh Gouda, a resident of Bharathi Layout. When the police asked him to share details in the comments' section, he deleted the video. However, the police tracked him and took a complaint from him.

The victim expressed displeasure at the footage being shared online, saying it violated her privacy. She later filed a complaint against Gouda.

The SG Palya police registered an FIR under Section 66E of the Information Technology Act, 2000. The section deals with intentionally or knowingly capturing, publishing, or transmitting images of a person's private area without their consent, violating their privacy.

A police officer close to the investigation said that Gouda had been summoned for questioning.
