Bengaluru: A rowdy and his family were booked for attacking a woman and her family after trespassing on their property and claiming it to be theirs in the Bengaluru South district, police said.
The incident occurred on Friday at Thayappanadoddi village under the Greater Bengaluru Integrated Township (GBIT) project in Bidadi. The attack occurred amid the presence of a police constable and surveyors.
Police said that surveyors were there to conduct a Joint Measurement Survey (JMC) on the land belonging to Sumithra and her mother-in-law.
The suspects, Mogappa, the rowdy, his father Kariyappa, also a man with a criminal past, his wife Deviramma and another man, Vishwanath, had attacked Sumithra and a few of her family members after claiming that the land was theirs when the surveyors arrived. Despite attempts by a police constable to pacify, there was no stopping the suspects.
Police have booked them under BNS sections 329 (criminal trespass), 352 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace), 115 (voluntarily causing hurt), 118, and 74 (assault or use of criminal force to a woman with intent to outrage her modesty).
