Bengaluru: Brief spells of rain on Wednesday in different parts of the city brought much-needed relief from the scorching heat as residents bid adieu to a hot April.

IMD data revealed that the city recorded 4.2 millimetres of rain till 5.30 pm. The relative humidity stood at 81 per cent, the MeT department said. Following the rains, the maximum temperature hovered around 33°C at 5.30 pm, accompanied by brief gusts of wind.

In the next 12 hours, the city is expected to have a partly cloudy sky with light rain or thundershowers likely, along with gusty winds, the department predicted.

"The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 34°C and 23°C, respectively,” the IMD said, quoting a report by Rajavel Manickam, Scientist ‘E’.

The IMD predicted on Wednesday that Bengaluru city and surrounding areas are very likely to experience light to moderate rains in scattered locations till May 7.
