Bengaluru: The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has intensified its probe into the recent stampede at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru that killed 11.
While some sources in the CID suggested that the investigating team led by Superintendent of Police (SP) Shubhanwita had issued notices to the suspects named in the FIR, including RCB and KSCA, senior officers overseeing the probe refused to acknowledge or confirm the development.
Sources close to the probe team said that the CID was yet to move the court seeking custody of the suspects arrested by the city police before the case was handed over.
“The probe team is also keeping a close eye on the court developments as some of the suspects moved the High Courts challenging the FIR and the arrests,” a CID source said.
Meanwhile, tensions are brewing between a section of the IPS cadre in Karnataka and the state government, which suspended Bengaluru police commissioner B Dayananda and his subordinates, holding them responsible for the stampede.
Multiple officers in Bengaluru, DH spoke with, echoed similar sentiments and asked why only the policemen were targeted while the IAS officers, who allegedly gave the permissions for the celebratory event at the Vidhana Soudha.
Suspended IPS officer moves tribunal
Meanwhile, Vikas Kumar Vikas, who was the additional commissioner of police (West), Bengaluru police, and was in charge of the stadium security, has moved the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT), challenging his suspension.
A document of acknowledgement was seen by DH. The application was moved on June 6 and is likely to come up for hearing the following week.
