Bengaluru: As part of a week-long campaign to set a Guinness World Record, students and faculty from two Bengaluru colleges took a water conservation pledge on Monday.
At events held at National College and BMS College, hundreds of students and staff committed to reducing water usage while brushing, cooking, bathing, and washing clothes.
They also pledged to conserve groundwater, use recycled water for gardening and vehicle washing, and protect water sources for future generations by signing pledge forms, the BWSSB said.
Starting Tuesday, BWSSB officials and volunteers will go door-to-door across the city, collecting signatures on water conservation pledge forms, said BWSSB Chairman V Ram Prasad Manohar.
The campaign, launched by Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on March 21 during the Cauvery Aarati ceremony, will continue until Friday.
Under the theme 'Water is Life–Save Water, Save Lives’, the initiative aims to raise awareness and encourage participation from colleges, NGOs, industries, and IT companies. The campaign is particularly crucial as the city faced a severe water crisis last summer, Manohar noted.
