Bengaluru: A team of policemen from the Bengaluru South district have opened fire on a suspect who is accused of killing a former Gram Panchayat member in Sathanur on Saturday.

According to the police, the suspect Srinivas was shot in the leg on Monday morning as he attempted to attack a police constable who was part of the team out to nab him.

Srinivas allegedly hacked to death Nanjesh (46), the former president of Achalu Gram Panchayat, along with four other associates at a dhaba on Saturday night.

The suspect, who the police said was safe, has been moved to the hospital for further treatment and legal procedures.
