Bengaluru: To facilitate ongoing metro construction work on the Outer Ring Road (ORR), the Bengaluru Traffic Police (BTP) on Wednesday extended their two-day traffic advisory, restricting movement towards KR Puram.

Traffic towards K R Puram was previously blocked, and the opposite lane was temporarily converted into a two-way street between 9 pm and 6 am on Monday and Tuesday to allow the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) to erect four composite girders across the Salem Bridge (railway crossing) near Rainbow Hospital, Doddanekundi. This work is part of the ongoing civic works for the ORR Metro (Blue Line).

While three girders were successfully erected on Monday and Tuesday, BMRCL plans to complete the installation of the final girder by Thursday.

To accommodate this, traffic towards KR Puram will once again be blocked between 10 pm and 6 am on the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday, with the opposite lane continuing to function as a two-way road.

In an updated advisory issued on Wednesday, the traffic police directed commuters travelling from Marathahalli towards Tin Factory and Hebbal to take a left turn near the Marathahalli bridge, use HAL Airport Road and Suranjandas Road to reach NGEF Junction, then take a right turn towards Tin Factory and beyond.

For those travelling in the opposite direction, from Tin Factory towards Marathahalli, the advisory suggests taking a left at the KR Puram railway station, travelling on ITPL Main Road, and then turning right at Hoodi Junction to reach Marathahalli.

Once the girder installation is completed this week, work will shift to the opposite direction on the Karthik Nagar side, according to the Mahadevapura Task Force (Mobility). They have urged road users to strictly follow the traffic advisory issued by the police.

“Please avoid commuting between ORR Marathahalli and K R Puram from 9.30 pm to 6 am,” the task force said in a note issued on Wednesday.
